This poster spotlights Andean women as symbols of cultural resistance in Peru, focusing on their vital role in sustaining traditions and challenging colonial assimilation.
Central to the design is a layered collage featuring portraits of Andean women, including my grandmother, Clotilde, whose strength embodies this legacy. These images are intertwined with elements like the chakana, symbolizing the universe, and vibrant hues inspired by chicha morada.
A map outline of Peru overlaid with rural Andean landscapes roots the narrative in its geography, while Quechua text, “We are still here,” asserts the enduring presence and resilience of these women. This poster celebrates their defiance, courage, and role in preserving cultural identity amidst resistance.
